The Perfect Mountain Wedding Weekend Timeline at Gold Mountain Ranch
A Sample Wedding Weekend at Gold Mountain Ranch
We’ll start with this, because it matters…
We are big believers that your wedding should feel like you. There is no one “right” way to do a wedding here, and some of our favorite celebrations have completely broken the mold.
That said, we get asked all the time what a typical weekend at The Wilmont looks like. If you’re someone who just wants a solid starting point, this is the flow we see work beautifully again and again.
Think of it less as a rulebook and more as a really good blueprint.
Friday | Arrival + Settling In
Most couples arrive Friday afternoon and are welcomed with a quick walkthrough of the home by our onsite property manager. They’ll get you oriented, answer any questions, and make sure you feel fully settled right from the start.
From there, it’s all about easing into the weekend.
Unpack, pour a drink, take a breath… and let it start to sink in that this is actually happening.
We typically recommend heading into town for your rehearsal dinner or welcome party that evening. As tempting as it is to host everything at the house, there’s something really special about saving that first full “wow” moment of the property for your wedding day.
If you’d like, we can help coordinate transportation to and from town so no one has to think twice about logistics.
Then it’s back to the house… hot tub, mountain air, your favorite people, and that quiet kind of excitement about what’s coming the next day.
Saturday Morning | Slow, Intentional Start
There’s nothing rushed about a morning at Gold Mountain Ranch.
You wake up, grab coffee, and step out onto the patio just as the sun starts pouring over the mountains and into the valley below. It’s one of those moments people remember forever.
Breakfast with your people, a little music, a lot of laughter… and then hair and makeup begins in the honeymoon suite.
If you’ve hired a planner or coordinator (which we always recommend), this is where they truly shine. While you’re enjoying the morning, they’re handling setup, vendors, timelines… all the moving pieces you shouldn’t have to think about.
Saturday Afternoon | Ceremony + Cocktail Hour
For most weddings, ceremonies begin around 3:00 or 4:00 PM.
We recommend having guests picked up from a centralized location in Ouray about an hour before. This gives everyone time to arrive, grab a drink, use the restroom, and settle in before the ceremony begins.
Ceremonies on the lawn are typically around 20 minutes… simple, meaningful, and surrounded by views that honestly do most of the work for you.
Right after, we always suggest something a little different.
Take a few minutes alone. No photographer, no guests… just the two of you soaking it all in before the celebration continues. It ends up being one of the most grounding moments of the entire day.
From there, you’ll move into family photos while your guests enjoy cocktail hour across the center and upper patios. We recommend a bar, water station, and passed or stationed appetizers tucked in and out of the sun.
If you’ve done a first look, you can jump right into cocktail hour with your guests. If not, your photographer will likely pull you away briefly for those just-married portraits.
Saturday Evening | Dinner, Toasts + Golden Hour
As cocktail hour wraps, guests are invited to take their seats for dinner.
This is one of those moments that always hits.
You slip inside for a quick refresh, then make your entrance from the living area through the accordion doors onto the patio as your guests cheer you on. It’s equal parts relaxed and unforgettable.
Dinner typically centers around one long table, with you seated in the middle and the mountains behind you… easily one of the best photo moments of the day.
We love starting dinner with a welcome toast from someone close to you, followed by a few additional toasts throughout the meal. Then, as the newlyweds, you close it out with a thank you to your guests and vendors. It ties everything together in a really meaningful way.
Toward the end of dinner, you’ll sneak away for golden hour photos. About 30 minutes, just the two of you, while your guests grab another drink and watch the sun dip behind the peaks.
Saturday Night | Dancing, Firelight + Letting Loose
Once you’re back, guests gather on the center patio for first dances under the market lights.
From there… it’s yours.
Cake cutting, dancing, late night hangs, s’mores by the fire pit, maybe a round of pool downstairs. The energy shifts into something a little more relaxed, a little more you.
Most shuttles head back into town around 10:00 or 11:00 PM, depending on your plan.
Sunday | Slow Goodbye
Sunday morning is all about soaking in the last little bit of it.
Coffee, hot tub, quiet moments together… and that just-married feeling that hasn’t quite worn off yet.
From there, you’ll head out by check-out time, but many couples choose to stay a few extra days in Ouray and turn the weekend into a mini-moon.
If that’s you, we have plenty of recommendations for how to unwind, explore, and make the most of it.
Want to Make a Full Week of It?
We’ve also seen a lot of couples arrive a day or two early with their bridal party for a few fun-filled days before the celebration even begins.
Think hiking, off-roading, hot springs, slow mornings, and a lot of quality time with your people before everything kicks off.
It turns your wedding into something bigger than just a day… it becomes a full experience.
If you’re dreaming up your own version of a weekend here, we’re always happy to help you shape it into something that feels completely your own.
